The origins of Tea Tree Oil and its varied uses date back to the aboriginal Australians in New South Wales, whose history indicates that tea tree oils has been like an all purpose medicine to treat a variety of ailments and injuries. It has been a medicinal tradition in Australia for centuries.
Today we now that tea tree oils serves a multitude of purposes from healing to cleaning and cosmetics treatments to holistic treatments.
I used this tea tree oil to make two things so far. The first thing I made was a beauty product, whipped body butter. You can get my recipe and more details by clicking here… Whipped Shea Butter with Tea Tree Oil
The second thing I made was a cleaning product. I made a cleaning solution for my tanning bed. This recipe is very simple and a lot cheaper than buying a cleaning supplies from the store.
I used the following to make my cleaning solution..
- White Distilled Vinegar
- Tea Tree Oil
- Lemon Juice
- Empty spray bottle
Here are the simple steps..
- Combine equals parts water and white distilled vinegar in a spray bottle. Shake well to mix, and then add a few drops of tea tree oil. The tea tree oil is a disinfectant and will kill germs on the surface of the bed.
- Add a few teaspoons of lemon juice to the bottle. This will help enhance the smell with a pleasant scent but is not necessary. Lemon juice is a powerful natural antibacterial substance. This will help with killing the germs also.
- Apply to the tanning bed by spraying directly onto the surface. Wipe away any excess solution with a paper towel.
I also used tea tree oil for my acne. It has huge disinfecting and soothing properties. Unlike other acne treatments, tea tree oil will not strip your skin of its natural oils and cause further damage. I simply applied a few drops of tea tree oil on a cotton swab and gently dabbed it directly on my acne. It made the redness and swelling decrease. Depending on how made my acne was at the time, I would usually did this at least a couple times a day.
There are a lot of different way to use tea tree oils. As you can see, tea tree oils can help you kill bacteria all over you home and body. It is often know as a “miracle cure”.

I love tea tree but it always reminds me of head-louse lotion that my mum used to put on my hair when I was little. Now if I smell of it, I worry people think I have headlice!
