It’s National Jelly Bean Day!
National Jelly Bean Day is observed every year in the US on April 22nd. This delicious candy became associated with Easter during the 1930’s. Now jelly beans are enjoyed all year long.

The blueberry jelly bean was created for Ronald Reagan’s presidential inauguration in 1981. Over three tons of jelly beans were consumed during the festivities.
There’s a portrait of President Ronald Reagan that’s made with 10,000 jelly beans. It’s featured in the Ronald Reagan Presidential library in Simi Valley, CA.
It takes 7 to 21 days to make a single jelly bean. Wow!
There are two types of jelly beans. The traditional jelly beans usually have flavor only in the shell. The gourmet jelly beans are flavored in both the shell and middle. They also tend to be softer and smaller than the Traditional Jelly Beans.
Very Cherry remained the most popular flavor of Jelly Belly beans for two decades until 1998, when Buttered Popcorn moved into first place. In 2003 Very Cherrymoved back into top position by a mere 8 million beans.

Jelly beans were never my fav since they are so hit or miss on flavors, but they really are beautiful. I guess they deserve their own holiday. XDDD
I look forward to Easter every year so I can indulge my love of the gourmet jelly beans! Seriously one of my fave candies of all time, but I have to watch it or I can eat an entire bag in one sitting.
