It’s that time of the year again when we can dress up and pretend to be someone else. It’s one of those holiday’s where you can not only dress up yourself and the kids, but you can dress up your home too. You can decorate the inside and outside with witches, skeletons, spider webs, headstones, jack-o-lanterns, and more. Trick-or-treaters love to visit all the scary homes on Halloween night. Trick-or-treating has been a tradition in North America since the 1920’s. Children wear their Halloween costumes and go door to door saying Trick-or-Treat. Homeowners tend to leave the porch light on to let Trick-or-Treaters know that they’re welcome. The standard Halloween “treat” is candy but sometimes you may receive other types of goodies like mini toys, stickers or even homemade goodie bags.Β The word “trick” implies a “threat” to perform mischief on the homeowners or their property if no treat is given. This is usually not taken seriously but sometimes you may find that a house has been rolled with toilet paper, also known as TP-ing. This is definitely something you don’t want to wake up to.
Halloween costumes can range from scary to sweet and innocent. Do you have any ideas yet of what you and/or your kids will be this year?
Every costume needs accessories. Especially if you’re going to be in a Halloween costume contest! Below are some ideas that you may want to consider adding to your costume.
Colored Contact Lenses with Designs
No one ever thinks of changing their eyes for Halloween. If you’re dressing up to be someone else for Halloween, you mind as well go big and change your eyes to give you a whole new look. Contacts are the perfect solution for this. The best thing about this is, you can keep the contacts and wear them after the holidays! I’ve always wanted to get some cool looking contacts for Halloween. I wear daily contacts so I didn’t think this was possible without having to go to myΒ ophthalmologist to order special colored contacts. LensΒ Circle has a wide range of colored contacts for contact wears and for those that don’t wear daily contacts. If you’ve never worn contact lenses before, Lens Circle has a brief article to help.
Lens Circle offersΒ Circle Lenses which are special extra-wide cosmetic contact lenses which make the eye appear larger. Circle lenses are different from normal color contact lenses because normal color lenses are only tinted in the areas that cover the eyes iris, while circle lenses have an extra dark colored tint around the outer ring of the lens. The outer ring is transparent in normal color lenses.
You can find their prescription contact lenses under the category Lenses with Degree. There are nine categories that offer different styles and colors to choose from. One of my favorites for daily wear is the Angel Series Circle Lens in the color green. It compliments my hazel eyes well. It makes them appear larger and brighter which I really love.
You can browse the other contacts by the 21 available Designs such as the Flower Series and the Wing Series. Or by the 7 different Colors: Blue, Purple, Green, Brown, Grey, Black, and Pink. There’s an Exclusive Series which is perfect for Halloween. There are even different styles to choose from such as Red Spiral and Yellow Cat Eye.
Glow In The Dark
Another great idea to add to your Halloween costume is by doing your nails. One of my favorites ways to add some pizzazz to my nails for Halloween is Glow in the Dark nails.Β Coconut Nail Art has a new limited-edition Halloween nail polish strips.Β The nail strips are made of 100% real nail polish and includeΒ aΒ base coat, color, and top coat. When youβre ready to try a new color, simply remove the strips with regular nail polish remover. The strips are simple to use and you don’t have to wait for any drying time like regular polish. Just remove a strip, position the strip against your cuticle, gently stretch and smooth over your nail. After applying, just file off the excess and you’re finished!
If you prefer regular polish or gel polish, you can try a glow in the dark luminous powder dust like this one from Amazon. This set comes with ten different neon colors.
If you like bolder nails, these Halloween handmade stiletto nails from Etsy would be perfect! They look great during the day and glow in the dark at night.
Add a little more Glow in the Dark with hair highlights. You can use this Glow in the Dark hair gel that features a special comb applicator which will evenly distribute the glow gel creating awesome highlights in your hair. Highlights look much better than an all over hair glow. It’s not too much, not too little… but just enough glow! This Glow in the Dark Highlights kit includes 1- .5 oz tube of special glow gel and 1 – 2″ comb applicator tip.
If Glow in the Dark highlights is not your thing, a simple headband is another great accessory. I found these adorable headbands on Etsy. The Glow in the Dark skeleton headband is my favorite one for Halloween!
Handbags
Every lady needs a handbag, even on Halloween. So why not get a special one to match your costume?! I was a witch a few years ago and I wore this Coffin Clutch. This is a small lightweight clutch perfect to store your makeup, money, and keys. It’sΒ 100% polyester tricot fabric with netting overlay. It features a metal cross set with clear & black rhinestones on front and a black grosgrain ribbon wrist strap.Β
This Bloody Clever Hatchet Handbag is good for just about any horror costume. The handbag is PVC Printed Bag with leather wrist strap and has an inside zip coin pocket and card pocket with a red kreepsvilleΒ satin lining.Β
Betsey Johnson has some really fancy handbags that would be perfect to add to your arm for Halloween. The black and gold Spider Crossbody handbagΒ is in the shape of a heart and is adorned with a faceted jewel spider. The exteriorΒ features a metallic gold glitter spider web design with a Betsey JohnsonΒ signature logo plaque on the back.Β Another one of her designs is the Look at Me Meow Crossbody bag.

The contact lenses are my absolute favourite. They look amazing. The colour is so beautiful
I have always wanted to try colored contacts. I was always worried they would not show since my eyes are really dark. They would look great with my costume this year. I am being a vampire.
The red contacts would be great for a vampire! They have circle lenses which not only cover the iris of the eye, but also the outer extra-wide rim of the lens. This makes the iris of the eye appear larger.
Halloween is sooo much fun! I tried glow in the dark nails one year. I think Iβd try green contact lenses this year.
I love the idea of using different contacts but always get paranoid as I have heard lots of horror stories!
I completely understand. I’ve always wanted to try contacts like these but I also worried. I feel comfortable with this one particular place online. All of their contacts come with a Geo Medical Co., Inc. authenticity seal which can be verified directly from the official Geo Medical Co., Inc. website. All lenses are also compliant with CE 0434, ISO 13485 and KFDA standards. I’ve been able to wear these contacts and I have fairly sensitive eyes. I’m really impressed with the way the contacts are packaged in a glass bottle with the seal.
“At LensCircle.com, we put your safety first. All lenses are shipped directly from Geo Medical Co., Ltd., one of the only manufacturers of circle lenses approved by the: US FDA, Health Canada, EU CE 1023, ISO 13485:2003, Russia GOST-R, Vietnam VFA, Hong Kong MDACS, Taiwan FDA, Singapore HSA, China SFDA, Japan MHLW and Korea KGMP.”
I love dressing up for Halloween each year!! I think all of these accessories are way to fun, especially the bright colored wigs!!
I had never thought of colored contact lenses for Halloween. What an interesting idea! I do not wear contacts myself, so it would be interesting putting them in. Also I second the glow in the dark idea. It’s perfect for Halloween.
I really love the contacts. I am so ready for this holiday.
Omg Iβve always wanted to try some fun costume lenses! Maybe this year Iβll splurge a little on my costume and get a pair, they seem like so much fun.
