Braids are a chic and simple way to change up your hairstyle. They’re sophisticated, stylish, and oh-so-pretty. Braids come in a wide variety of styles that will let you express your personal taste. From cornrows to crochet braids, french braids, carousel braids and more. Whether you’re looking to add a little pizzazz to your natural hair or you’re wanting to add some extensions or synthetic hair, you’ll find that creating braids can give you an entirely new look every day. We’ve rounded up 6 of our favorite braided hairstyles for a variety of hair types. These are some gorgeous braided hairstyles just in time to help create your new Spring look!
1. FISHTAIL BRAID
Whether you’re going shopping or headed out for a date, the fishtail braid is an excellent hairstyle. This will become your new go-to hairstyle when you need something quick and easy. It’s a classic braid that’s beautiful and elegant. It may look complicated but it’s way simpler than it seems. There are many variations of the fishtail braid such as half-up ponytails, to the side, knots, and buns.

2. CROCHET BRAIDS
Crochet braids have been making a comeback over the past few of years. They were really popular in the late nineties to early 2000’s. This low maintenance style begins with cornrow braids. Then you use a crochet hook to attach synthetic braids. When installed properly, it’s nearly impossible to tell the difference between the crochet braids and your own natural hair. There are different patterns to french braid your hair depending on what style you are wanting to create. Crochet braids can be worn straight, curly, twisted, or braided. There’s an abundance of choices in crochet hairstyles from Goddess Locs to Water Waves. Have a little fun with your braids and add a pop color to them! You can achieve the “island flair style” as shown below with the Janet Collection Braids in your choice of 7 different colored Havana Mambo Faux Locs. These crochet braids from Divatress are interlocking faux locs that are handmade and pre-braided. This ensures a quick and easy hairdo!
3. FAUX UNDERCUT
The faux undercut has an edgy look. The undercut style has been seen on some well-known people such as Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Alba, and Rihanna. Some celebrities have been known to shave a portion of their hair to achieve the undercut look. The faux undercut gives you the same style but without having to shave your hair. This dramatic look features a tight braid on one side of your head while the other is just loose flowing hair. It’s a quick and easy look that you can achieve in no time.

4. CAROUSEL BRAID
The carousel braid is cute, playful, and glamorous. It’s like a ponytail wrapped in a braid. This style has been around for decades but they’ve been growing in popularity lately. You can create different looks with the carousel braid by creating a high or low ponytail or by using single or double variations. Depending on the amount of hair you are working with will also change the look of the ponytail.
5. GHANA BRAIDS
Ghana braids have a number of other names including pencil cornrows, Cherokee cornrows, invisible cornrows, and even banana braids. The cornrows run down your head and end in long thick braids. You can use fewer strands for a more natural look or use more strands for a more dramatic look. These braids can be styled in an endless number of styles and patterns. Some go for the classic Zig-Zag Ghana Braids while others may go for a more elegant look with the Micro Cornrow Updo. If you want a bold style, go for the Mohawk Braids!

6. FIVE STRAND DUTCH BRAID
Add more pizzazz to your hair with the five strand dutch braid. Usually, dutch braids use three strands of hair just like a traditional braid does. The dutch braids look like a french braid turned inside out. This is because the hair is weaved under the center strand instead of over. This intricate style can be a little daunting to take on but the results are absolutely beautiful.
